Potential Members

What is expected of a New Lion?

When a new Lion comes into the club, we hope to see you become an active and involved member in many of our events. It is important to show us your enthusiasm as a member, but it's also important for you to try now things, explore new ideas, and find your niche in the club. We highly encourage new members to follow the ROAR program.

The ROAR Program

Recruiting, Orienting, Actively involving, Retaining

The ROAR Program is designed to help newly inducted members become familiar with and take an active role in club activities.

The objective of the ROAR program is to build quality into our membership up front by ensuring that Potential members understand what is expected of them and for clubs to understand what new members expect from Lions. Club membership chairs and sponsors have an obligation to sit and discuss the benefits and responsibilities of membership in a Lions club. They also have a responsibility to get the new members actively involved in club activities and to help them understand the great work Lions do at all levels.

The ROAR Program for New Members and their Sponsors is one tool that clubs can use to help new members get and stay involved with the club and their community.

A handsome lapel pin awaits the New Lion and Sponsor who takes advantage of the ROAR program.

To receive the ROAR Lapel pin, this form must be completed within one year of the date of membership and submitted to the District Membership Chairman.

Things to keep in mind

Don't be afraid to try new things or start your own projects. With over 70 members in our club, you're sure to find someone to support you.

Fresh faces in the club also mean new opportunities may come to be for all of us so we encourage you to be yourself.

We know you can't make every meeting. We know you can't make every event. What's important to us is that you try to stay active in some way as the year goes by. Please, try to make it to a couple of our events and be involved in projects, but don't feel pressured or obligated to do more than you can handle. Find something you enjoy in the club and keep up with it.

Don't get discouraged if some things don't work out here and there. We are a strong club with many opportunities. Don't lose sight on what could be.

How to become a Lion

Membership into a Lions Club is by invitation only. Please consider this your invitation. Also, a current Lion must sponsor you into the club. Contact one of our members and let us know of your interest. Then, when you are ready to volunteer yourself and step into a world of service, leadership, and helping your community, please join us at one of our upcoming meetings. Please check our meeting tab for the location and times.
