Community Projects
Christmas Tree Sales and Donations
Every year between November and December we purchase hundreds of Christmas Trees to be sold in the Greater Gardner Area. Some trees are donated to the less fortunate in our area.
College Scholarships
Two scholarships are awarded to area high school students each year.
Equipment for Vision Impaired
Sight equipment is distributed in the community to assist those with vision impairment.
Eye Glass Collection
Old glasses are collected, refurbished, and distributed to those in need.
For the benefit of Forward in Health, our club along with the district and state are in the process of raising $75,000 to be matched by LCIF to fund one-third the construction of a new clinic in Haiti.
Rotary Beautification Program
Our club maintains and grows on a plot of land within the rotary where Central, Elm, Green, and Pearl streets meet in Gardner.
Sight & Hearing Funding
Our Sight & Hearing Committee helps those in our community who need assistance with getting glasses, hearing aids, and other needs which our club will help set up and fund.
Events
120 Drawings
Twice a year, we hold a 120 drawing and dinner.
Each year, our club members assist setup, breakdown, walk, and run logistics at the Greater Gardner Relay for Life held at Mount Wachusett Community College.
Christmas Day Dinner
Every Christmas Day our members, along with the Gardner Leo Club, hold a dinner for the less fortunate in our area.
Comedy Night
An annual fundraiser for the club, we host a night of local comics performing.
In assistance to the Templeton Lions Club, our Lions frequently work concessions at the Crow Hill MX Track.
Monthly Meat Raffle
The raffles are held the first Friday of every month, September thru December. The raffles consist of 6 rounds of fully loaded meat tables and an additional all seafood round.
Oil Raffle
Each fall, our club runs an oil raffle fundraiser. The oil is donated by Chair City Oil and the drawing is held in November.
Peace Poster Contest
A Lions International event starting at the club level, students at our local schools paint posters on a particular theme based on peace. Winners from each school then move on to further levels of judging.
Ride For Sight
An annual event for the club, a motorcycle ride is held on a scenic route to raise funds for sight. The ride includes raffles, a poker run, and ends with a BBQ and music.
Sightmobile
Typically run during the Relay for Life, the Sightmobile is set up with vision and hearing testing equipment for anyone who would like to come by and get tested.
Youth Speech Contest
This contest is an annual event for local high school students. Our clubs winner will move on to higher levels of competition.
